Our Story
Andrew’s journey into the drone industry began as a quest for innovation following a distinguished career in the Marines. After being honorably discharged and facing the realities of a 100% permanent disability, he sought new ways to apply his expertise, particularly in the maintenance sector. With over 20 years of experience, Andrew recognized the vast potential of drone technology for preventative maintenance and inspections, but his career took a turn when an accident left his vehicle totaled and a medical episode, due to stress, left him searching for new horizons. During this time, he made the pivotal decision to start a business focused on the emerging drone market, formally establishing Mercury Drone just four days after the accident.

At the same time, Matt was navigating his own challenges, including the unexpected loss of his father to cancer and a motorcycle accident. While recuperating in the hospital, Matt identified a significant gap in the application of drone technology and became eager to explore its possibilities. A conversation with Andrew revealed that both had independently conducted research into the drone industry, each complementing the other’s findings. With Matt’s plans to partner with Ben already in place, the three men combined their visions, aiming to serve their community by developing drone programs to assist local law enforcement, fire departments, and forestry services with search and rescue operations and tactical support. Committed to gaining FAA certification and enhancing their skills, they faced economic challenges together, including self-investing to get started. Despite these hurdles, their dedication to harnessing drone technology for practical and impactful applications continues to drive their mission forward.
